Expert Posts: 2276 Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :)	What makes a place a farm? A ranch? Just curious as to what classifies it as that.

I guess I never thought of it as a "horse farm" lol Insurance classification is a bit different ... my bet is that you are a "hobby farm" in their opinion, unless your main source of income is the farm/ranch then it would be a bit different with classifications ... IMO - I think it depends on what part of the country you are in too. I grew up on a full section of ground in SW Washington that is a working sheep ranch by all intents and purposes. However, we always called it a farm. Out here in the midwest, it would be classified as a ranch because it was a self sustaining sheep production operation of seed stock and terminal lambs for restaurants. Heck, call it whatever you want and roll with it girl!
