Liquid Fertilizer

What liquid fertilizer is safe to use on my small horse pastures? What guidelines should I follow? Any brands that have worked well for you, please share. I have asked dealers and read articles online. Now I am really confused! Thanks for your help!

I don't think that you would want to use liquid fertilizer on your horse pasture as the salt and nitrogen will burn what is growing at this point. I would use dry urea for the nitrogen and dry 11-52-0 which is phospherus and 0-0-60 which is potash. It will fall down thru the growing material and not burn your pasture.

The best advise you will get for your area will come from your county extension agent

Your county extension office will soil test for you and give you a recommendation for pasture fertility based on that. We always get it flown onto ours when there's some extra in the plane from doing the crops, so my fertility is a mess. LOL. And we do granular-only on the pasture. Liquid is applied differently and not over the top.

After getting a soil test done you can use liquid but it will burn more then dry. You will need to mix it at least 50/50 if not more water to minimize burn. Liquid is also normally more expensive then dry just an FYI. Talk to your local co-op or Extension office as either will be versed in fertility.
