My dad has raised horses for years. He passed away this fall and acquired a mare whom I was told was broke to ride.
The mare will be 6 this spring. She is a very pretty buckskin, stout and heavy muscled.

Here is my delima she is very hard to to catch and saddle.
Therefore I hired a guy a put about 10 rides on her.
The first ride (no spurs) was perfect no buck, saw a few boogers. Second ride (with spurs) a week later, she bucked then without spurs she rode prefect head down, still saw boogers.

I am disappointed she is not as far along as I hoped.

I am trying to decide if I should keep her and give her chance by sending to some people whom have the facilities to ride during the winter. or cut my losses and sell. She is not a high powered barrel horse, but I had a half brother that was a 1D horse. We still own 2 half brothers to her.

I don't know how long you would plan on sending her off, but the way I'd figure it, what could 30 days hurt? If nothing else, after the 30 days you would most likely be able to get that much more for her because she has had some training than none at all if she doesn't work out as you'd hope. And if she does work out, then you would have done that any ways.

Thank you I did not think about it increasing her value, but it sure would.

A horse not tolerating spurs is not a bad thing! Good grief. The horse is trying to tell you something. Your just not listening!!! I'd darn sure rather have one sensitive enough to not need poking and proding. If you send the horse out, do all of you, including the horse a favor and tell them not to wear spurs.

If she was your Dad's and that would mean something to you to keep her, here is what I would do; Send her to someone that can not only get her good and broke (vertical/lateral flexsion, great stop, back's on command, etc.) but can also haul her to multiple environments to the point where she is no longer seeing a booger around every corner.

Sounds like she has a good mind to start with, which is ultra important when deciding whether or not to invest in the training.    I've just seen too many instances where people send a horse away for 15 to 30-days just to be able to get on them without them breaking apart only to haul them to a new environment and have the horse totally go bonkers.    Get all that out of the way before you get her back.......just my opinion.

Good suggestion to find a trained who will haul her a little and get her out and about.
I used to do this myself but with working full, a family and not to mention in my 40's it would be nice to have this work done, it would be great to get her home and start hauling and exhibitioning.
