My MIL has taken on about 20+ horses for a neighbor that is going through a divorce. She would like to post a sign or have the lady sign a waiver of some sort to kind of help protect her in case of any sort of accident on her property. She is renting out her pasture for free to this lady until she can find some place else to move her horses to. This lady also has kids that come out with her so my MIL does not want to be liable for any accidents on her property. Of course a waiver or sign cannot stop a lawsuit but it can show the judge that the owner took action to help protect herself.

Anyone have this sort of form they wouldn't mind sending me??? Thanks in advance!

Some states do require that the Warning Law or other specific wording be shown in your Release of Liability form.  Some states also require that you post signs at your facility with the Warning Law on them.  This information is provided as a reference only.

North Dakota - No Signs or Contractual Language in Release Forms required.

However, that being said, I would still purchase a sign to post on the property…….. you can purchase them cheaply.

I have a sign posted like NJJ has a link to.  I got mine at Runnings if I remember right.  I had some waivers on one of my computers that my lawyer cousin wrote up for me when my daughter was giving riding lessons.  I might have to fire up the old computer to find them.

Thanks guys. I know ND does not require anything but she wants something even if nothing else it helps her sleep at night...lol.

I did end up finding a very generic one online that I sent her.
