Is there a correlation bw bigger gullet size and needing a bigger seat size for the fx3? Do they run small or are they true to size?

I think they are pretty true to size, but they say that when you get above a 9" gullet you may need to go up in seat size (some people say you don't need to - especially if you get one with flat bars instead of the regular bars). I wouldn't go up too much though - maybe like a 1/2".

I had an 8" gullet 13.5" seat Crown C and I think my seat was just a tiny bit too small. I got a 10" gullet Racer with a 14" seat when my horse moved up in gullet width and I think it is the perfect seat size.

All my Martin's fit true to size. They are my favorite saddles. I have them in different styles, custom and bought used. Have never had any issues or found any differences.

What about for those with thicker thighs that touch the swell?

If your thighs are touching the swells it's probably a little too small of a seat. A 1/2" or 1" longer seat than that might do the trick. I've heard its good to have an inch between your leg and the swells.

I would see how a 1/2" felt first, then go from there. You don't want too much room.
Double J roping saddles I do go up a 1/2", just for a more comfortable ride and room to move with a rope.
