My 7 yo gelding has mild arthritis in his right knee. We are doing shots of Pentosan
(sp?
) but I think he needs something more. This video is from yesterday. He seems comfortable running but he really stalls on both left turns. Ideas? His hocks were injected last fall. I use Previcox before I haul but I'm not 100% sure is knees and not shoulders???

My 21 y/o has pretty bad arthritis in both knees. I give glucasamine IV weekly, Polyglycan at least monthly, plus have his knees injected.
From my understanding, he was pulled off of the track for a bum knee, so this has been a long-time issue.
He still runs solid 2d-4d times and enjoys it, so I'm thankful for every run we have left.
eta: I also use BOT knee boots in the trailer and when stalled
(when it's not 400 degrees out!
) And, I use linament after a work out or run, maybe just to make myself feel better.

Mine was visibly lame and I had his knee injected
(X-rays showed a fragment but not a chip
) and he was so, SO much better after. He's back to his old self
(even better
) and I had him on Previcox and that wasn't helping at all.

I would put him on Cissus Quadrangularis. It is great for assisting with so many things like repairing damage and helps alleviate pain. It's available on the Animal Element website. www.AnimalElement.com
Cissus Quadrangularis is said to cause an increase in collagen production and support healthy joints. One of the primary effects of Cissus is thought to be an increase in collagen turnover, so with increased synthesis & replacement you could expect a quicker recovery from injuries caused by overuse, and from cartilage & tendon repair. Cissus also inhibits cortisol from breaking down muscle and bone when our bodies are under stress. Additionally Cissus has been know to assist with pain management.
Cissus DOES NOT TEST under any sanction of testing for associations or racing commissions.
Dosage:
1- 4 gram scoop twice a day
Ingredient:
Cissus Quadrangularis
Uses:
Cissus quadrangularis has been used for obesity, diabetes, a cluster of heart risk factors and high colesterol. Cissus assists with bone fractures, weak bones
(osteoporosis
), scurvy, upset stomach, ulcers, painful menstrual periods, asthma, malaria, and pain. Cissus quadrangularis is used in body building as an alternative to anabolic steroids.
