Horse sucking bit guards into mouth?

I use a tender touch with black rubber bit guards. Riding on a trail yesterday when weirdo mare started shaking her head and acting especially weird. Realized she had somehow gotten both bit guards in her mouth and was sucking on them. She is extremely mouthy. Just who she is. Ever seen it before? Take them off?

I don't have bit guards by my guy will get the snap of his reins in his mouth and chew on them-super annoying but he's a player too-loves to nibble and nuzzle. My headstall is tight enough-I actually tightened it a bit just to make sure that wasn't his problem-he's just a weirdo....

It's tight enough and fits snugly. Without them, she'll grab the shanks or reins in her mouth.

Start riding with a caveson and break the habit, if not they will always do it.

Either a caveson or drop the bit in their mouth so they have to suck it up to keep it in place.
