Popped Posts: 20421 Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana	have you had any experience with one that's condition comes from an excessive amount of mucus? do you have any experience with products that will alieviate some of the mucus that is excessively produced. this horse has been scoped and tested for any infection. its just him and I belive the issue of bleeding was from the thick mucus getting in the way of air flow.

I believe I can help you out here. First stay up on your flu and EHV (herpes) vaccinations. Keep all the dust you can away from him. Don't walk in a cloud of dust in a warm up pen. Soak hay and feed (if its dusty). Use a flexineb or a MPTS 360 mask to administer Neb30, Balsamic Air or Acetylcysteine (liquidfies mucus). I'm using Nebulin which is much like the Curost via inhalation. Bronchodilators will help open the airways and then use the mucus removal product. Do a lite workout after and they should cough gunk up. The use of antioxidents is showing promise, Vit. C Vit E and selenium in the fluids of the smallest of the airways. So ask your vet about that. Curost is showing lots of good results as is Clear Scope per a friend that has a racing stable. I've not used the Clear Scope first hand so that is second hand info however, my friend was trainer of the meet and has lots of long distance runners that told me of positives from these products.

Elite Veteran Posts: 886 Location: Where its cold and hot	I had my bleedee scoped recently for coughing during daily exercise, TONS of mucus build up in her trache the vets figured from allergies or dust. They recommended using Equi-Spectorant to dry the mucus up. Within a couple days she stopped coughing completely. I'd tried tri hist before that with no luck. I'm planning on scoping again to confirm but so far so good. I also pulled her off of the roundbale, and soak her hay in the stall at night.

Veteran Posts: 274	I have only had results on running bleeders from a good vet and pharmaceuticals. Out bleeders typically run on Amicar, Lasix, and Vent, really bad bleeders will also get Kentucky Red and little more Lasix.... We also feed Vit K/C if they are not already on Equipride.
