Would you kindly offer some regimes for getting your horse ready for the season and any feed and or supplements you recommend.
12 year old mare not a big girl but loves to chase cans.
All your great info will be passed on to my 15 year old daughter so she can see what should be done properly
Thanks in advance

I always start out at long trotting 2-3 miles at first then just build up the distance from there. Adding in loping and sprints for lung capacity. This is within a couple weeks of course..I feed Exceed 6-Way. It has really helped with his overall appearance, he was really snappy in his turns and running hard at the end of last season. More so than ever before!

I use the app equitrack. It tells you how many miles you rode and the average MPH.
So I know if I did 4 miles one day.  I may do 5-6 at the same speed and then try to lope more to increase the MPH the next day.

How long was the layoff?  Has she been turned out or kept up?

Ditto, a program I was given by vet  to leg one up after being out for 8 months due to a suspensory injury and stalled quite a bit was 15 minutes walking, 10 trotting, 15 minutes walking-2 weeks increase to 10 walking, 10 trotting-repeat 3 times for another 2 weeks, then 10 walking, 10 trotting, 10 loping, repeat 3 times for another 2 months.  I had one out for 6 months due to injury but not stalled and out on 100 acres, similar program but done over 2 months.
