| What signs have indicated an injury, soreness, or pain in your barrel horse? Mainly on the pattern, but outside as well. |

| Gate issues, blowing past the 1st barrel, bucking, crossfiring, ducking into the barrels.... there is a million and one clues on the pattern that can mean pain. Horses don't lie, so if they do anything out of the ordinary, there is usually a reason. |

| I am just trying to determine if what I am dealing with is a combination of not being ridding as much as one should/laziness, or if there is something physically going on. |

| My biggest insight has been through a (reputable) chiropractor. When he says something feels like it could be wrong, I head to the vet. If he says there doesn't seem to be a soreness issue, I try to work through it at home. He's felt things before I've noticed them, and I've avoided a few potentially big crises. Likewise I've ignored his suggestions once or twice and ended up regretting it. |

| If you look at how the horse moves during the pattern how they use their body this will tell you if they are sore.
There are so many things to look for it is hard to explain.
If you want you can message me a video and I can tell you what I think.
Dianne Gunn is pretty good at identifying laxness/soreness issues |

| For my one mare she has a high pain tolerance so you have to really be able to read her. She starts balking, won't come up to me in the pasture anymore, chomping at the bit(more then usual she's an ancy horse), she also rushes and just wants to get it done as quick as possible.
My other one is really easy to read. Swishes tail, avoids doing it to one side or the other, avoids the bit some. She also will rush to get it done quickly and kinda avoid listening to me. She will also not pick up the correct lead.
