We are thinking about going to the youth world next summer. We've been when it was in Jackson and it was well run and fun so we thought we'd make the trek to GA. Now that the world show is over can you share great places to eat or fun things to do in the area? TIA

we love eating at "The Oil Lamp" it is next to the Dairy Queen, great home cooking!

have never really found allot of things to do right in Perry, the day I am not running we usually make a trek to the Bass Pro Shop in Macon because they have a distribution center there and they have a big clearance warehouse and we sometimes make a trek a little past Macon to Locust Grove to Horsetown

We like to go to the Longhorn Steakhouse. Also just up the road is the Aviation museum at Warner Robbins which is pretty cool. Sonny's barbecue was good too.

There is a BBQ joint one exit North of the Fairgrounds called Grillmaster. It looked a bit sketchy from the outside but the food was good. I've heard good things about the Oil Lamp but never made it there. Also in the downtown area was The Swanson, good home cooking.

The stalls in Perry are on concrete so make sure to plan accordingly for that. Some people bring or buy mats, I just put down a bunch of pellett shavings and wet them down, then put my fluffy shavings on top.

Last year we did a bit of a winery tour. Ended up at one that looked like a dump but the owner was oh so cool & knowledgeable. He gave us a tour of everything, we played cards, drank a few bottles. Had a great day on a Sunday.
