Has anyone used milk thistle?

My mom has a lab that is really up there in age. A few months ago she was literally on her death bed! The vet said that it was time to put her down bc of her liver. I even thought my mom was crazy for not doing it! But my mom had a feeling and asked to go ahead and give liver meds and try. The dog got a little better not much. my mom did some research and came across milk thistle in a liquid bottle from a health store I think it was around 15.00 and lasts bout 30 days give a full dropper every day.
The dog went off meds and wouldn't eat but my mom still gave her a dropper full of thistle and slowly she started pulling thru. and 3 mths later my mom has to walk her everyday! She doesn't walk slow my mom has to almost run with her because she is walking so fast and she cant slow her down! It is amazing the changes! Her eyes are super bright. She has a lot of arthritis and you can tell bc she cant standup for long time and cant jump and stairs are sometimes hard for her.
Because of this amazing transformation got me thinking bout for horses and was wondering if anyone has given to their horses? Now the one my mom gets has milk thistle with glycerin and forgot the 3rd ingredient. It is liquid form. But for horses Im finding it says to feed powder form and the powder form has dandelion and bout 4-5 other ingredients that I don't care for.
I know that it says it is a liver detox. But the way this dog has changed makes me wonder if it doesn't do more. I know if liver bad your whole body be effected. I also read to that if your horse has epm
(I do
) that it is good after you treat. So what do you all think? or has anyone done and why and which one did you use, and do you just do so many times a year or every day? Thanks

RE: Has anyone used milk thistle?
I have never used plain milk thistle but I have used the SLH Kidney and Liver Support products and also the Hilton Herbs Detox Plus liquid. I have been happy with results using both systems but I like that the Hilton Herbs is a tincture because it was easier to feed.
You want to do them for 90 days which is a full blood cycle.
If you are looking for just milk thistle - Mountain Rose Herbs is a good source. A cheaper source is Herbalcom.com but their MT is not organic or certified.
I take a milk thistle/liver herb blend myself and I know for sure it makes a difference in my vitality.

Yes, 3 capsules per day...I've been doing it for the past month. I was given a couple sales sample bottles from our HBC buyer to try so I am going through those now. The brand is Nature's Way - it is non-GMO verified but not organic.
Each capsule is Milk Thistle Seed Extract 175mg and Blessed Thistle 120mg.
This is my first experience taking it myself and I am glad that I tried it because it really does seem to help.

Milk thistle is from the rag weed family. If you have any allergies to rag weed don't try it . I did and could not breath. I don't know about horse allergies and rag weed.
