Hello all!
Serious question here.... a friend of mine had someone sell her horse for her; they showed her and allowed her to accept payment through her PayPal.  Has their policies changed to give the sellers more recourse?  Horse is going into the US out of Canada... I just found out after everything was said and done. I'm worried about it and a dispute.  Please tell me they have semi changed their policies.  I don't use PayPal anymore and have always done bank drafts or transfers myself for horses.   I'm sick for her since it was a significant amount. It's cleared into her bank but ??‍??  I've warned her it could happen.  I guess it was both parties agreement since they hadn't sold internationally before...

Are you worried about the new owner trying to get her money back after taking the horse? Do you have a reason to think this or just know that it has been possible in the past? I use PayPayl and have for long time with no issues. Did they do it as a business transaction (PayPal takes out fees)? If it was a significant amount they would have had to pay quite a bit in fees. If they sent it friends/family where no fees were taken out then there is no way to dispute that and get your money back.

Just because it's happened to others. And it's halfway into another country.  I'm worried

I have bought many saddles using PayPal.  I always pay the fees. Never a problem. One seller would not use PayPal, so I did not buy from her. I guess no one else wAnted to take a chance on her either. She ended up lowering her price quite a bit.  not sure how it worked out but I did not see any rants about the transaction.

I used paypal for business as well as for private transactions like horse betting on https://www.horsebetting.com and never had any problems with other traders. But I heard of some people that had issues. So I'm not sure what advice I could give you except next time your friend should use direct payment just to be 100 % save.
