| OK.. WHAT are you afraid your horse is going to catch from a human? I always try to allow people interested in my horse to pet him, and love on him. My horse can be very grouchy, so I do watch him, and if there are little kids I watch him very closely, but I feel it is the least I can do. Especially when at a rodeo where sometimes that is the only place these kids get to see a horse up close. I love that they get a thrill from it, and I sweat, my horse likes the attention too. |

Location: Texas | I'm probably the odd one out. But I actually don't let strangers touch my horse's face. My buckskin draws in a lot of attention because of her golden dapple color, so when people want to pet her I let them pet her shoulder only.
No kisses and no getting up in my horse's face. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind people loving on my horse. Heck I've been known to stand near the entrance to rodeos and let all the little kids love on her. Pet her shoulder and neck all day long, but don't touch her face.

| My mare will bite anyone who tries to kiss her nose. She hates it! |

Location: Tornado Alley | We have a rule at our house. We kiss our horses but they can not kiss us. My daughter was 7 when she had the privilege of giving Easy Jet a kiss on the nose!

Location: Oklahoma | For me it's no big issue, but it does depend on the horse to. My mare would have no part of it...it took her 2 years to decide that i MAY be ok. She doesn't like being touched at all. The gelding- he loves attention. Heck, he would probably kiss them. |

Location: Midwest Farmer's Daughter: Central Illinois | My only thought is that it could be physically dangerous - the calmest horse in the world could randomly toss his nose & then you have a stranger who could sue you & win for damages. Bruises, broken nose, if their tongue is between their teeth & they bite it...lots of things can happen when hard horse face hits human face.

| There was a Lady that liked to kiss the Horses in My Barn. One day I had just brought My Horse out of the pasture where it was dry and dusty. She came up to kiss Him on the nose . He got a whiff of Her perfume and Sneezed black dirty nose boogers all over Her face. She never kissed Him again !!! |

Location: Texas | I let people love on my horse quite often and as far as the kiss on the nose...why not? Now if I knew my horse to be kinda grouchy then I would not allow it but most people k ow their horses and what they will tolerate. |
