Does anyone know what the going rate for hauling is? Ballpark? I know it can vary depending on the loads and return trip and all of that. Just trying to decide if we can afford to figure delivery into the sale price on a couple of horses. Thanks

I'd be interested in knowing, too, so I can figure out how far I can afford to go to find a barrel horse (until then, I'm going to just keep my sights locally). Thanks, not trying to steal, just bumping.

I don't know if this will help but have gotten a few qoutes for some people on a couple of my horses. For about a 1550 mile haul it was quoted at $1,300 (Montana to Texas), 260miles was $250 (Dillon to Billings, MT) and 500 miles was $400 (Montana to Utah). These were all from the same guy. I had a horse hauled from southern cali to southwest montana and it was $700. Hopefully this helps! I know a lot of the cost depends on how many horses they get on the haul, the more they can get the cheaper it will be for you, or will give discounts if they're taking more than one horse for you too.

Holy cow, it costs as much to haul a horse as it does to haul a car!  I guess I'll stay looking local for now.

Thanks, that does help. I was hoping we might be able to deliver but we can't compete with those prices due to our fuel cost for a 700 mile trip. Maybe if we could pick something up to haul back this direction.

I think you would be safe figuring about $1 per mile
