Expert Posts: 2258	I posted the other day about a horse that a friend bought from a kill buyer. She knew he was lame and took him to the vet yesterday. He has stifle injury that the vet called chronic on the right side not as bad on the left. He is a super sweet horse and she is hoping there might be something to help him at least be used for light riding. She is giving him time and looking for any treatments that might help. Extreme Veteran Posts: 399	I have a mare at home right now that injured her left stifle. Now mind you I caught the problem early enough but decided and have done 3 out of the 4 IRAP injections. I also have a friend that did IRAP on her horses knee that was just about gone and she is still running him. She can also look into shock wave therapy.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 399	Rats, sorry forgot to add that by the second injection, her stifle fluid was very viscous or thicker than the very first one that was almost like water. That in of itself is a very good indication that the therapy is working. She is also on limited exercise for 4 months with a slow build up to start back at the end of the 4th month.

Thanks I did IRAP AND PRP on a gelding we have with chronic stifle injury/arthritis. We didn't catch it early and it worked really well he's 20 now and we keep him on previcox daily. My mom still ropes on him and his stifles don't bother him at all. But do the PRP 1st then a month or 2 later do another PRP treatment. Then start with the IRAP a couple months after that. Worked awesome for our gelding.

Worked awesome for our gelding. You do realize previcoxx daily will mask the pain. I liken this to those who dont have health insurance and need back surgery but dont have the money. Yes asprin masks the pain but sometimes you have to do what you have to do. At least Previcox isnt as hard on the gastric system.
