What does it cost to get a horse across the border now?
What do they have to have in the way of anything extra as far as health papers & test?

They have to have a current coggins (six months) and an international health.  I believe it costs approximately $135.00.  The health is good for 30 days.

Depends on the vet, coggins, health papers (supposedly the vet has to drive out to where the horse has been boarded to ensure all the animals look in good health) brand inspection.

You might also need to hire a broker, I know when I brought horses from USA to Canada I needed to hire a broker

You need a health cert, current coggins, etc. like posted earlier. When I brought mine across I had to pay HST at the border, and that depends on purchase price.

To import a horse you need a current Coggins (within 6 months) and health papers. The health papers just state that the horse has been inspected and found to be in good health and in the last 60 days the horse has not been on premises where T. Equigenitalis has been isolated or that within the last 21 days the horse has not be in Texas or New Mexico.

Also if you're buying a gelding you are required to pay Provincial tax on the horse (unless commercially imported then you only pay GST), a mare or stallion I believe you just pay GST.
