I have a friend who has a saddle with stirrups that are too free-swinging for her.
Everyone keeps telling her she needs to tie her stirrups forward, but she doesn't know how to do that and neither do I.
Can anyone explain the best way to do that? Are there any Youtube videos that show how to do it? We have looked for them but can't seem to find any.
Thanks!

Ok , I wish I would have taken better pics of the whole rig but I didn't, I just wanted them gone! Here's a link to the thread I started which includes a pic of the stirrup leather attached with a bolt under the pommel, the other "half" of the stirrup leather went through the saddle tree, but had a hobble and a piece of metal with slats cut in the leather to "adjust" them. I've searche dthe internet for you and am giving up! If you have a saddle maker in your area take the saddle to them, they will know what to do.

Take it to a tack repair person. They can simply run a piece of nylon around the stirrup leather and then secure it with a screw under the pommel of the saddle. This will keep her feet from going behind her. If you actually hang the bottom piece of the stirrup leather as shown above it will pull your feet into a forward position which to me is extremely hard to ride. I'm not a fan of this set up at all and prefer my legs kept directly under me. But a good tack repair person should know how to "hobble" them and not make them "forward hung". They are two different set ups.

Years ago I saw it done at a clinic with Danny and Vicki Rienhardt.............I'm sure they just tied a string but I would suggest emailing them thru their website..................google Dan and Vicki Rienhardt barrel racing clinics!
