Location: Freezing in Wisconsin | What do you do at big shows when the stalls are on concrete? I keep back on track on at night but am wondering what you do additionally? Last time my good horse was in this situation she ended up with a swollen nerve, I am going to Great Lakes Nationals and heard that the stalls are on concrete there. I want to do what I can to keep her comfortable and protected. Thank you for any advice!
edited for another question, for those of you that use soft rides do you have them on all 4 or are just fronts ok?

Location: MD | I put down interlocking mats that I buy at Wal Mart. Pretty much a one time use deal. Then I will put down a layer of pelleted bedding. Depending on the horse, this could be anywhere from 4 to 8 bags. I do not wet the pelleted bedding. On top of that, I put the shavings that come with my stall and normally add a couple of extra bags, so that they are bedded up super deep. I keep Sof-Rides on them anytime they are in the stall and if just out for a walk, if there is a lot of concrete. Depending on the horse, they either get No-Bows and flannels, BOT's, or their PHT wraps while in the stall for long periods. I try to get them out for at least a 15 minute walk several times throughout the day. |

Location: MD | If one is shod all around, I will normally just do the soft rides up front. I have a couple who are shod up front and bare behind, they get soft rides all around. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | One of my mares get soft rides, mats and a lot of shavings. But she has problems with her feet and gets sore very very easy. The others get 6 bags of shavings. I absolutely hate dealing with mats especially after they've been in there a week like when we go to world. so I'm looking into other options for something that is one time use but will provide the same amount of protection as the mat. |
