Location: Seward, Nebraska | Saw their new video on Facebook, how many studies have been done showing ban on slaughter contributed to the decline in equine welfare? Will these idiots ever get the point? I don't like slaughter, but we already have an over population what are we going to do when they "save" 100,000 horses from slaughter, I don't understand the logic. Not to mention horses are loved members of my family but they are not pets you can't put horses in same category as dogs and cats.

Location: Oklahoma City OK | I've said it many times, if I had it my way, we'd have a REGULATED slaughter plant on every corner (slight exageration.) Have them locally, where we could police and regulate them and make them as humane as possible and the animals wouldn't have to be transported long distances in horrible conditions to places that are beyond cruel and beyond our jurisdiction would be a win win. The need for humane disposal is necessary and I know I'll get flamed but it's the truth. Yes, it's easy to tell people to stop breeding and producing but there is always going to be an over abundance of horses that are of little to no value for whatever reason and there needs to be a compassionate and humane way to dispose of them, rather than letting them starve or be shipped to non-regulated slaughter plants thousands of miles away. |

Location: Peg-Leg Julia Grimm | Don't trust anything put out by HSUS or PETA. They are all the same. They want to legislate us out of our rights to own animals. Don't be duped into donating money after seeing ads on TV with a poor pitiful looking dog or cat. They don't give a **** about animals. They just want to separate you from your money so they can continue their agenda. Those animals are probably already dead. Makes me so mad when those ads come on, I usually change the chanel. |

| HSUS is just like the Clintons and Sharpton ...
the entire HSUS lost their 501C tax exempt status over a year ago .. for not filing tax returns AND ONLY SPENDING 3% OF DONATIONS ON ANIMALS ..
Now read this end around they used fronting with the HSUS in the Virgin islands and one of their hidden money Foundations along with the IRS pretending like they made a mistake ... and took them off the automatic 3yr list and washed it clean as if it never happened ...
NOW TELL ME HOW MANY AND HOW MUCH MONEY WAS DONATED TO CONGRESSMEN'S CAMPAIGN FUNDS TO LET THIS FRAUDULENT BUNCH GET AWAY WITH THIS ..
When the announcement first came about the revocation of the shelter's 501(c)3 tax status, it was just before the holiday season and the end of the year, when many people typically make charitable contributions.
"It could not have come at a worse time," Szymanski said.
The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands stepped in to help the Humane Society, acting as a third-party fiduciary. People looking to make the tax-deductible donations could make them to the foundation and the money would go straight to the Humane Society.
Szymanski said the stop-gap measure was very successful and really helped the nonprofit through a tough time. He said some people in the community were so concerned about the Humane Society, they made donations directly to the shelter anyway.
In the end, what could have been a real financial blow to the organization was mitigated by generous donors in the community.
"It hurt us in some ways, but in other ways, people stepped up," Szymanski said.
Overall, the donations made during the 2014 holiday season were about the same as the year before, he said.
"We are happy that the IRS has confirmed our belief that we were put on the Auto-Revocation List in error. We've contacted them to review our account status immediately after we received the revocation notice, and we were told numerous times on the telephone that they made an error because their internal systems do not communicate between each other. It's nice to get confirmation in writing that they are reversing their error," Humane Society president Joe Aubain said in a written statement.
ONE MORE REASON TO GET RID OF THE HSUS, THE IRS AND VOTE IN TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS!!

Location: Seward, Nebraska | So I whent through their website trying to find a plan of what to do with these horses, then searched another 30 minutes just to find a email to contact them for something other then donations as the contact link for equine was broken, finally got litigation link and sent a email asking where these 100,000 horses are going to go, and how they plan to care for and feed horses if the whole country gos thru another hay shortage like we did a few years back. I'll keep you posted if they respond, am I correct in the thinking rescues are still very full?
Edited to add think I saw this Wednesday night and have been fuming ever since iv already email both senete and house reps to vote no with added note to have some plan of unwanted horse disposal, like maybe Feds support yearly rendering day once a year people can take horses to local area and have horses euthanized and the rendering would be free? I do agree every thing I give my horses says don't give if intended for human consumption so human illness would be a concern but isn't that their choice?

| I made a post on the fb page encouraging people to sign their petition. I made the statement of how HSUS only uses less than 10% of its funding and investments to actual animal care. They replied to my statement that they indeed use 80% of its funds to "help" animals and the attacks to my statement began. I very calmly used Financials listed on their own Website to prove my point after a woman sent me pm's one after the other as to where I gathered my facts. As stated I used actual numbers from their Financials and that if she couldn't figure out basic math, she needed to take refresher math classes. The HSUS grotesquely underestimated the number of horses slaughtered at the close of 2007. With that the HSUS declared that there would not be an economic impact due to the close of the slaughter houses. Directly after the last plant closing its doors there in turn was a direct negative impact and the HSUS made a statement that it was not due to the close of the plants but the economic downfall that was hitting the US at the time. Fast forward to 2015, the economy all be it relatively stable, there is an even greater population of unwanted horses and the HSUS has yet to respond. Other than face the "egg" on their own face at this time, they end up paying yet more money in celebrity advertisement (instead of actual animal care) to try and make it difficult to ship horses across any border for slaughter. The sad fact of the matter is that the majority of identifiable animal rights activist did not have a plan one in place to help the unwanted horse population after the last plant closed in 2007. None of these high profilegroups spend any notable amount of funds to feed or care for the unwanted or starving population like the good ole federal government has to the tune of close to 2 billion dollars. I am done with my rant and fact presentation.

Location: Seward, Nebraska | I'm still waiting for my response from hsus about their plan, but I'm guessing they have none, after emailing and calling state and federal officials voicing my opinion about bringing slaughter back to US and being shot down by all. Do we as the equine industry have a plan if hsus gets it's way and the ban goes thru? As I don't believe non horse people that haven't witnessed the effects of a ban first hand understand it's down falls. |
