THANKS a million for posting this link. This is exactly why I dont order from them. I work too hard for my money and horses to buy dyed sterile water, or inject crap into my horses I love that is not approved. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true.

I buy products from racehorsemeds and have been satisfied. Even had one vet sell me products from horseprerace at a marked up price so that convinced me to order direct.

I love the ulcer Meds from these companies.  Will buy them until the communist FDA shuts them down.

I have used them for years as well. Their pentosan gold is great stuff. I am concerned about the risk cause you just never know but my vet also uses their products on his own horses.

I have bought flunixin from them 3-4 times the last bottle I got was yellow colored in date (expired in 2017). i took it with me to my last DVM appointment. Lets just say I threw it out in the trash after she explained why she would not use it. I said it was just easier to keep it on hand and ordering off the computer is so simple.  Wish i could recall all the points she made about the saftey of FDA approved meds. She is looking in to a source for Pentosan so I can get some Any suggestions???

If you want pentosan made here then wedgewood pharmacy is your best bet.

Just because a vet uses it doesn't mean its accurate/good stuff. I'd like to get a deal too but... JMO

Apparently the people that commented saying they would still use this company DIDNT read the article.

I read the article and did not see where they actually performed any analysis to show the actual contents were different from what was labeled. If you are going to do a hit article like this then show me hard numbers or facts where said bottle contained something different. I do not think this would be hard to do, simply order a bottle and have it tested to see the contents while documenting the entire process. If a bottle of say pentosan contained saline solution or some other inert fluid, then you have ironclad proof.

The article to me was more on the lack of governmental oversite which given how our government works is not necessarily a bad thing. They also take issue with the old argument of do these or any supplements actually do what they are advertising and that can be said for just about any supplement on the market. Just look at the very crowded and lucurative feed through joint supplement market, nothing that is proven by the government to work and a large number of vets and scientists state they are of little value as the molecules are simply too large to be absorbed into the system.

Over the past 20 years I have tried many different supplements and most when I stepped back and really took a hard look did very little or nothing for my horses. For the last several years I have been a big fan THE muscle mass but this year I am starting to question it. I have 2 horses that are about eight years apart but look like twins and are on identical feeds, both had been on the MM for the race season the last several years. This year my 18 year old is semi retired so I did not put her on the MM, the other is getting a little more exercise, same food and the MM for the last 3 months. This spring I have been shocked at how good the 18 year old looks, nice shine to coat, very nicely muscled honestly she looks just as good as the 10 year old. And the once a month or so she get ran she is putting down very good times. It has me thinking the 1000's of dollars I have spend feeding her MM in the past might have been wasted.

I will say I have been using pentosan and polyglcan from horseprerace with good results. I do the loading dose and can feel when the booster is due, usually every 2-3 weeks depending on how hard they are being run. I do notice a difference when they are on these meds, like I did when they were on adequan.

This article does concern me, but given they offered zero hard evidence I will most likely continue using what has been working for me.

I read the article as well and here is HARD evidence-
Furthermore, the FDA charged, HorsePreRace was mislabeling its products — a tube of omeprazole tested by the agency contained just 68.1 percent of the omeprazole claimed on the tube. Mislabeling of drugs is also considered a violation of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

That to me shows that they aren't properly labeling things. How the heck do you know what they are using ? You are right....it is partly the government trying to control it but do you want to be the owner of the horse that has the bad reaction to it because they put snake oil in it? Is it worth it?

Another SCIENTIFIC test- in the ARTICLE-
A University of California-Davis study found compounded clenbuterol that contained ten times its advertised concentration. A sample of triamcinolone acetal discovered in Minnesota boasted 6 mg/ml of the active ingredient on its bottle, but turned out to contain only .00828 mg/ml.

Did you read the article?
