How long after recovery did you feel they were well enough to go back to the pattern and compete? My gelding had Dr. Honnas operate on 6 places end of September and has just gone to a rehab facility for 30 days this last week. I'm interested to see how your horses came back once you actually started riding and putting them to work in the pattern.

I had one done by Dr. Honnas in November, 2015. He said I could start riding again at 4 months, but my boy rolled shortly after coming home and opened up some of the stitches which made it take a little longer to heal completely. Then I had a hard time getting hair to grow on it. Every time I would try to ride him the saddle pad would rub the ever so thin skin off. So I ended up staying off him longer than normal, probably about six months, but I did pony him a lot until all the hair & hide covered good. He is now back 100% and better than I ever dreamed he could be!

Honnas has Ok'd him to go to rehab so he is starting that and will be gone thirty days he should be at the four months when he gets back so will be able to ride. Just wondering with him going to rehab doing the aquatred and being put on the walker how slowly do I still need to bring him back under saddle or before I would introduce to harder work? Just from yalls experience I'm going to talk with honnas also along the way.

I would spend another 2 months of riding or ponying before harder work. The aquatred has shown horses have less bone density compared to horses who are exercised on firm ground, therefore increasing the risk of fractures.
