There's a motel right in the stockyards, I think a Days Inn. That would be a great place to stay, as you could go to the semi's and shop and bar hop the rest of the time.

You must eat lunch a Joe T Garcias and visit Teskeys in Weatherford. I'm not crazy about Dallas, avoid it at all costs but I'm sure there are things to see there.

I was just in Dallas for the weekend. We went to the JFK museum. We also went out to Cowboys Red River. The Gas Monkey Grill was pretty good to eat at when I went last year.

Joe T Garcias for Food
Teskey's In Weatherford for all your tack and saddle dreams to come true all at once
And for sure check out the stockyards and the Stock Yards Museum. Teresa Burleson is the Museum Director. She's also a very awarded Cowgirl Poet. You'll have to ask her for a CD or a live performace. She's my favorite person at the museum. She's a very interesting person.  She will aslo be more than happy to tell you about all our little secret spots Fort Worth has that are worth seeing.
Good Luck!

Teskey's is my absolute favorite store.  It's quite a bit away from Dallas - you will need a car.  I also believe they are closed on Sundays.
I always stop by there when I'm in that area and spend entirely too much money there.....

M L Leddy is my favorite store in the Stockyards. Good stuff there. To eat, lunch at Riscky's BBQ and dinner at Cattlemans, or the restaurant at the Stockyards Hotel. If you stay in the Stockyards Hotel ask for a room that does not overlook the street. Really loud on weekend nights. Have fun.
