Location: Southwest Louisiana | Sorry this is so long. Just looking for other's experiences.
I have had ovarian cysts before, as I had a lot of pain and then my doctor found them by doing an ultrasound. This was a few years ago. In the last two years, the pain has gradually gotten worse each month. Always on my lower right abdomen. Now I don't know if I have cysts in all of that time, but I know that pain and it hurts. Usually only a few days a month. But lately, it's been much, much worse. I had that same pain at a different time of the month than usual. A LOT of pain.
Went to the doctor and they thought it could be appendicitis or cysts. Had a ct scan and it showed nothing was going on at all. Pain lasted another few days and went away. A week later it's back full force. I went to my gynecologist (didn't see the doctor, just an ultrasound tech) for an ultrasound. It showed nothing was there.
Head straight to a regular doctor and they do blood work and urine test. Nothing was wrong. She did an x-ray thinking it could be kidney stones because of the amount of pain. Nothing. But I'm still in a lot of pain.
Sitting, standing, nothing I do helps. Two advil takes it down a notch, but it's still painful. Anyone have a clue? I have an appointment with my regular doctor next week and then my gynecologist for an actual appointment the day after that.
Could it be endometriosis? I've heard that can be very painful, but no one in my family has it. I'm 37 years old and had 2 kids about a decade ago with no issues. This is killing me, especially the fear of what ifs. Not knowing what's going on is freaking me out. X-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, blood work, etc and nothing is showing, yet I'm in so much pain.

| A girlfriend of mine had drop to your knees buckle over pain and it was due to the PCOS, the doctor had to laser the cysts off then put her on metformin, she now doesn't have many attacks |

Location: Somewhere around here | You sound like me last year!! I've had a few cysts before, went to the hospital once because my uncle freaked out thinking my appendix burst but nope, just the cyst burst lol. But last summer I had immense pain, more than the cysts it seemed like and my husband took me to the hospital. X-rays, ultrasound, tests. Nothing came up! Finally the ER doctor said it was "mittelschmerz", basically terrible awful evil ovulation pain. Here's a link https://g.co/kgs/hYejoX

Location: Nebraska | I've been dealing with this since I was 16. Some months are worse than others. What helped me the most is being on birth control 365 days of the year. I never go off and I never have a period. I've been through probably close to 10 different kinds of pills trying to find one that worked. I gained weight with it that I can't lose, but 10 lbs is better than feeling like I'm being stabbed every day.
I just recently started getting the pains again and saw my doctor. I already had the surgery to find out if I had endometriosis about 6 years ago and it was inconclusive. I thought it was time to switch my pill again but after doing an ultrasound he could find nothing wrong. A friend of mine has interstitial cystitis, which is a bladder disease so I asked him about that. He recommended a bladder diet to try for a few months. I can honestly say I have only had the pains 1 day since I went on the diet Valentine's Day. I drank a large iced coffee, which is a big no no. I would definitely ask your doctor about IC. |

Location: Northwest | You sound like me. I had wretched pain that was crippling and then it would go away for a few weeks. Lived with it for years, finally couldn’t anymore. In October I went to doctor. My regular doctor was pretty sure it was endometriosis. Had the ultrasound sound done, didn’t show much but he still referred me to a obgyn. That doctor told me that endometriosis rarely shows up on ultrasound etc that you have to do exploratory surgery to know for sure. He said that if they did find something they would operate at the same time. Low and behold, I had horrendous endometriosis plus a terrible cyst. Took a few weeks to really heal but I feel awesome now! |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I had endometriosis and it was in 1980 before before all the new diagnostic tools. I also had cysts. It was hard to find a doctor that would do a hysterectomy because I was 30 years old. The pain went from monthly to all the time. Best thing I ever had done. I remember waking up and that pain was replaced by discomfort of just having surgery. IC has been linked with people that have had endometriosis. My first symptoms started in 2005 and the pain has gradually increased. I sucks also. |
