Location: Oklahoma | Plans have changed again! Now my husband has changed his mind bout doing a barn house together bc he has heard so many nay sayers. Course he says if I want we can still do but I want him comfortable too! I know I would be fine with it lol. He is not a horse person but loves the horses and supports me. Anyways, I have come up with an idea of doing the house attached to shop. What is you all thoughts on this? I will have a barn but just separate. thanks |

Location: Stephenville, TX | I live in a shop house! I call it a "shopdominium". I needed more space than an average garage attached to a house, so the shop house works very well for me. My insurance agent has it classified as a 2br/2ba house with a 5 car garage lol. My original plan was to attach a leanto on the shop part to use as a barn, but the specific piece of property I bought wasn't quite set up for that, so my barn is separate. I'm not one to stall my horses much and I have other livestock too, so it actually works out fine that they have their own area away from the house. There are lots of different ways you can setup a barndominium or shopdominium or even a barnshopdominium to make it suit your lifestyle. I lived in a barn apartment for a few years and noise, flies and smells was a bit of an issue at times, but good sanitation and making sure the stalls and house don't share a wall (have a breezeway between the two) can help. I found the most ideas/plans for mine on Pinterest. Some of the barn manufacturers have plans you can review on their websites also. It can be a little overwhelming, as the possibilities are endless lol. |

Location: Oklahoma | Yes definitely overwhelming! Never buildt before. The shop will be 30x40, house 30x40, and barn that is separate is gonna be 30x30 with a 10x30 lean to. Cant get away from 30x40 lol. My husband is a mechanic but just for us he has a lift and the whole works. Also have friends that comes and use the shop we have now. The shop we have now is 30x30 and hubby says he wants/needs 10 extra feet!.lol Hubby said the shop will be taller than the house. I been googling and actually have found a couple styles that I like. Thank you everyone! |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | My husband is a mechanic and his shop is a ways behind our home, there is no way in heck I would want his shop attached to our house, with all the noise from the air tools and motors running being reved up the exhaust fumes is horrible.. I get headaches from all the diesel and gas fumes lingering if I hang out in his shop for to long and theres plenty of doors open, that smell just clings onto everything. |

Location: Tx | We built a metal house (what some call a barndominium) and I wouldn't have the house attached to a shop or barn. To much noise, flies, smell, fumes etc. We love our house though. Can do a lot with one. |
