Considering starting my older mare on Adequan. I'm told that Ichon is the generic brand and is just as effective. Google concurs. (LOL)
However a local Vet is saying otherwise and that Ichon is for a surgical drip and top to be used the same as Adequan.
Insight?
Ive used both and ICHON does not get near the same effect as adequan,. Same for other HA products, none of them work as well as LEGEND. I have had great success with polyglycan however, and pentosan.
There is no "generic" form of Adequan . Ichon is a knock off that mare is close in chemical make up to Adequan but off by a couple carbon atoms. *it is not FDA approved like Adequan.
I was told that Adequan and Legend work really well together. However, Legend is to be given IV from my understanding and I've never done that. So a little wary
Also, I have been giving 5ml of Polygylcan monthly, and while I feel it helps her with her stiffness, I'm hoping to find something that offers more... if that's possible.
Correct, Adequan and Legend do work veery well together. And your right, Levend is IV, but so is polyglycan.
Polyglycan can be administered IM or IV. I've only ever used it IM. I guess I just need to suck it up and order Adequan. Won't know if we dont try.
