Location: Adopt a homeless pet - www.petfinder.com! | I am curious about something, are they generally ridden on a loose rein? My new guy had 6 months cutting training before I got him and I'm just trying to figure out how he was taught so I can get with him better. He's super broke, responsive to legs and seat, but I think I may be riding him with a bit more contact than he's used to and/or likes. Thanks in advance for input! |

Agreed, seat and legs. And after 2 they are almost never direct reined, only neck reined. |

| Yes, they are ridden in a loose rein. They go more off feet. I've trained several cutters on barrels and I take about a month and get them used to my hands a bit more. I like to ride with one more in my hand, just a personal preference. I want to be able to pick up, move over without them getting flustered. They are so smart and willing though, it doesn't take much. |

| I also found with mine i trained on barrels, she stoped when id push on the horn. All the cutters would stop when id push though on cattle was part of the "big stop" cue. Never was in issue until i wanted momentum kept up lol.
Shes great though i just have to push and stay a bit forward.
The funist horse ever to ride though! |

Location: Willows, CA | We once sent a cutter to Marilyn Camarillo to train on barrels. She loved the horse, but said that he was very smart and would try to out think the rider from time to time resulting in a difference of opinion. He eventually got very competitive. |
