It only helps temporarily....like for a few days. I would look into injections and mesotherapy. But mostly I would do the surgery and get it over with before the kissing spine gets worse. I've had 2 horses have the surgery. One is fine now. The other one had it for too long before we found it and the surgery did not help.

Can't say I know a lot about it. My horse had surgery 18 months ago and came back like a champ. Injections did not work for him. I guess it depends how bad and how many rub points he has and what he is doing as a result of his pain. If it is not too expensive I would say try it but it its a lot I would pass

Shockwave is only going to get you a few days/week maximum relief. Injections are worth trying before surgery.
My horse had horrible bone damage, scarring, and spine fusion, the injections helped bit it wasn't enough to change his flexibility.
Had the surgery and two years of turnout
(I just sent him to my Grampas to just be a horse, I probably could have brought him back sooner
).
Just now bringing him back and exhibitioned first time last weekend. His style has completely changed for the better, he's like riding a new horse. Clocked like crazy, should've entered him. We're ready to go back to it.
Dr Honnas did the surgery.
