Currently I ride in an original Bob Marshall and LOVE it, I love how much more secure I feel in it than a tree'd saddle.

Im looking to buy a 2nd saddle and really love the looks of how deep and secure the Tammy Fischer looks. My questons there are sizing. I ride in a 14" and have tried a 14.5" and hated it, I felt loose. So I THINK i would rather have a 13.5" since there is no 14" but would like to know how they fit. Also, they come in medium and wide tree....yet they are treeless? I ride a QH and TB and my BM fits both, just with different pads.

I threw Martin Crown C in there because I sometimes wonder if it might be nice to have one of each, treed and treeless around.

According to a dealer, the "regular" and "wide" models only offer about 1/4 inch of difference as far as width.  The difference is that there isn't as much peak for the wide model.   The same dealer said that she would almost always go with the wide models on the TF, unless you have a horse with really high withers.

I would suggest sitting in a model before I bought it.  The Tammy's have a very high cantle and pommel, so depending on how your BM fits, you may not like it in a 13.5, but you'd definitely be secure.

Martin saddles are exceptionally tricky and to be honest, I don't think I'd ever own one.  I had a custom one made on their tree and it sure didn't fit the horse I bought it for, even after being custom fitted.  Luckily, it does fit my other horse, or I'd have been steamed!

The regular tree Tammy is super narrow. I wouldn't use it on anything. The wide tree seems normal to me and fit most horses.

If you like the captured feeling go with a Tammy and if you want one that you can get up and out of go with the Jackie Jatzula. As far as you trying the Tammy..on both the Tammy and Jackie they suggest going a size bigger then what you ride in a treed saddle. You really need to try a treeless on the horse you are going to be riding it in. A treed saddle that feels good on a stand can change a lot when sitting on a horse depending on their back. If your horses has high withers or a dropped back...the saddle will close up some.

See, i just went from a Martin Crown C to a BM because it was causing muscle atrophy to my horses withers. I couldve went to a wider gullet but it was just making him sore period because he is short backed. Dont get me wrong tho, i LOVED my Martin. So i built my BM similar to the Martin (same measurements for pommel and cantle) so i didnt feel so secure...i dont like feeling trapped.

You are aware any I'll fitting saddle especially too narrow will cause muscle atrophy.

This is why it is very important to check for saddle fit.

If he's getting sore because the skirts are too long....."just making him sore period because he is short backed"  Then changing gullet width isn't going to fix anything.
