A year ago I bought a CSI pad and I've tried to use it on all of my horses and with a wide variety of saddles and I just can't seem to like it. I don't hate it on my one horse but everyone else I just can't get it to work. It hasn't been used a whole lot so maybe it's not as "broken in" but I feel like it perches me up there and I'm having trouble with it rolling on some horses, a problem I've never had before... I've heard rave reviews about the SaddleRight Pads (althought I did about CSI too) so I am interested in ordering one of those now! I know I would like a square skirt and I'll have to measure size but what can you tell me about these?? Deluxe or All Around and do I really need a liner? I've never used a liner with any of my pads because I haven't had the need but if it's recommended I would be open to it! Brands?

Are there different thicknesses? It will be used on a variety of horses but the main ones are
1. Big thick roping bred mare with an Ammerman AK Saddle
2. Long and lanky mare with prominent withers and one shoulder bigger than the other in a Tex Tan (ONLY saddle I can find that doesn't roll or slide, don't even get me started on that problem lol!)
3. Big thick mare with practically no withers in a CJ Record Breaker, slight rolling problem with the CSI and a shim currently.
Thank you, I always get good opinions and advice on here!

I have one Deluxe and one all around. The only real difference is the wear leathers on one that the other doesn't have. They come in sizes but the thickness is the same on every pad. You can use different thicknesses of liners to accommodate what each horse/saddle needs. I mainly use a 3/8" contoured liner from Reinsman, but I have also used a 100% wool Navajo and the liner from my CSI. The Saddleright liner sucks. You can use it without, but it will impact the lifespan of your pad.

I have 2 all around's and 1 deluxe. 1 all around is 30" and the other 2 are 32". The 30" was the first one I got back in 2008-2009 and I used it with my Billy Cook. After I got my first Bob Marshall I went to the 32" just because I prefer to have a bit of pad stick out on the front and back. But if I need to I can use the 30" with the BM also. I would just measure your saddle and see how long it is and go from there.

Like T4L says the wear leather is the only difference between them. I started out with their liner, but really didn't care for them. They are alright when new, but after a while they start to bunch up. I have used a Navajo pad with them and since I got a BOT western pad in December I use that now. (they are nice and thin but don't bunch up, also they can go in the washer).
The reason I use a liner is simply to extend the life of the SaddleRight. But friends of mine have been using them for year without and they are still going strong.

I didn't get a liner for my first saddlerite and when it got dirty and hairy, I used my EZall body wash thing and blasted the whole thing off.  It worked really well and that was the advice of my dealer.

Thanks everyone!! Looks like I will be ordering one :) I think i might have one liner laying around somewhere to try but I've always wanted to try the BOT one so maybe I will order one of those too! Can I use them on hot summer days though? I'm excited to see if I like the SaddleRight better!

I don't use liners with mine. I like the good quality stuff touching my horses. I brush the hair off after a ride, and every now and then wash them. The easy all sprayer and soap work great.
When I ordered my first one I measured my saddle and added a couple inches. I just bought a used one off FB bc it was a great price, and it's small. It barely fits under my saddle, but I don't really care lol, it was $100 like new, and the size doesn't hurt anything.

I really like having the leather wears on my Deluxe. Mine is 30" long and the standard 36" wide (18" on either side of your horses back). When I ordered it I was asked if I wanted the standard width, and I didn't know any different so I said yes. I know wish I had ordered it a hair less wide, like maybe a 34 or 32" wide. But I like the way the 30" length fits under my 14.5" Pozzi! I have about 2-2.5" in the front and back.

I almost picked up a used one that I thought was gorgeous, it was a sand color with chocolate leather wears! But I stopped myself because I already have too many! hahaha
