Location: Arkansas | For the past 4 months or so I have been having trouble with pain and limited range of motion in my right shoulder. I just figured it was from 30 years of crutches off and on (with the last 9 years almost exclusively on them). It finally reached the point I went to our local surgeon about 2 weeks ago, scared to death he would send me to Little Rock to an orthopedist for actually surgery. Tuesday was my appointment, and I was nervous of course. When the doctor came in he had looked at the MRI and said he saw a lot of inflammation and fluid but nothing that suggested surgery at this time. I was thrilled! When I asked what could have caused it, he said probably overuse from being up on the crutches roughly 20 hours a day from March thru Aug between working on the ponds at night and my office during the day. Then he smiled and said "let's go-ahead and do an injection today and I feel like in 4 weeks you'll come back and say things are great. Do you have questions?" Um, yes I did----how bad was this gonna hurt??? He told me I'd feel some pressure but the nurse would spray "cold spray" on it so it shouldn't be bad. Weeelllll, it was ok right up til he started digging around under my should joint area. . . . . . Let's just say that I thought to myself, Lord, I don't know this man well enough to puke on the top of his head at this stage of our relationship----so please please let this light headedness and nausea pass REAL quick. Prayers answered, after 30 seconds I knew I wouldn't be throwing up on my new physician
I told Lula Bell I felt like an old barrel mare getting her hocks injected!! |

Location: In a happy place | This made my knees weak. I had to have one of those shots and the doctor put novacaine (sp) in with it so it didn't hurt so bad. Hope you are feeling better soon. |

Location: Arkansas | Thank you all so much; today is much better. I was a crying mess yesterday I hurt so bad! A big weenie!!!! So far I've not minded the doctor as in not doing much for 3 or 4 days, but I do feel better anyway. I just KNEW I'd get a numbing shot before he went in with the needle that looked as long as my femur. . . . Yeah, no, that didn't happen! But I definitely now see why they say the horses need pain med and a few days off after their injections. In all honesty I am so thankful for God allowing me to not have to have surgery right now. And I'm believing that this is gonna help and surgery will not be in my near future. So the old mare is very thankful for my family and friends (including BHW ones). I appreciate that every time I post y'all answer my call for prayers and thoughts. That means a lot in today's world that people take time out of their busy lives to care about others. Happy holidays to you all, and again, thanks for caring |

It is much better today. And yes I thought about a swift cow kick AFTER the needle came out! But since I'm afraid I may have more of these in my future I'm trying to be a good girl that would deserve a treat and an ear rub |
