| I'm new to central Kansas and I've never had pasture, so I need to ask a couple of questions. We fertilized our acreage 3 weeks ago but haven't had enough rain to dissolve the pellets. The grass is now coming up and I'd like to turn the horses back out on it. Should I wait until it rains? Also, do I need to gradually increase turnout time? I don't work near home, so I can't come check on them or let them in.
Also, we went out to ride a few nights ago and the horses' ears were scabbed over with fly bites. We found several small flies in their ears as well. Does anyone know what kind of flies these are? We put Swat on and went to buy fly masks with ears but there were none at the store :( so I will continue to search for them. If it is warm where you are, you might want to check ears.

Location: Where I am happiest | You can NOT turn your horses out on the pasture untill the fertalizer is disolved and soaked into the ground. The fertalizer could be very dangerous for them if it is ingested. If not enough rain, can you water it? Set sprinklers at night and let them go all night to really soak it in. |

Location: Smack Dab in the Middle | In central KS (that's where I'm at too), shipping from Valley Vet should be next day--and usually free. They are in KS, towards Manhattan.
It is supposed to rain this week, and it will not take much to take it down for you. |

| Thanks! We will be near Marysville tomorrow, but if not, I will order. It's good to know that shipping won't take long!
I do hope it rains! My boys miss their turn out!
