Location: Cocoa, Florida | One of my favorite geldings has had a deep digital flexor tendon injury which the tear was pretty low I believe, I donβt own him anymore but they want to send him back to me to leg up and run again for a while - the vet seems to think he can make a come back but Iβm apprehensive that it will re tear or reinjure him. Anyone had one that came back after this injury? |

| I have known horses that have for sure. Keeping them in shape, proper shoeing, etc will help. It will always be on the back of your mind though. I would certainly only run the horses on GOOD ground, not super heavy stuff. Pick your pens and make them count. |

Location: Northern CA | Yes! I have one, with proper treatment, rehab, and shoeing they can definitley make a come back. I was back to training and showing mine 1 year after the injury (with stem cell treatment). |

Location: Georgia | Iβm dealing with this problem now. I have one diagnosed with a bowed DFT. Iβm hearing a lot of good things about rehab, PRP, and stem cell therapy. Iβm just not sure which route I want to take yet. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | Yep. I have one. It was more of a separation than a tear but she's been running consistently since her injury. She was off 4 months, maybe? I was diligent with her rehab and am very particular in her care. It happened 10 years ago, she's 14 this year. |

| We had a mare with with a tine tear/hole in her DDF tendon. We rehabbed her, I think we hand walked her every day for about 6 months before we turned her out in a small pen. It was awhile, but she came back and a little girl has been running her for 4 years now since that happened. I think once we got the ok from the vet to start legging her back up, we gave her another couple months off and then started out really slow. |

| I have seen many successful horses come back from them but I also think location can be key too.
The two I have the most dealings with were one who lacerated his DDFT higher up, had surgery and came back to run but never did move quite the same on it. Not pain but it just didn't have the same mobility. However, he did re-tear it in the pasture and she retired him for a trail horse.
The other was a torn DDFT very low, almost into the foot. She did stem cells but it kept tearing every time she got up and down and they ended up having to make the horrific decision to put her down. |
