Check your horse trailer for wasps before you load up. They are bad this time of year. My tractor has them all in the front end loader. I have been stung twice and it hurts.

Thanks! We’ve noticed a few around our gooseneck when we hook up and have been meaning to take care of them. I have to hook up here in a few minutes and it’ll still be darker and cool...think I’ll give them a spritz.

I’m pretty sure the injury I’d have from throwing myself out of the back of the truck would be worse than the sting! I hate them, broke my wrist the last time I had a run in with them.

Good reminder! A friend of mine had a horse get stung in her trailer. That horse when from loading itself to being a pain to load after that. It's been several years and I still don't think she's gotten over her fear of getting in the trailer!

Yes great reminder. I recently brushed a pasture sprayer by accident and out came a wasp who stung my hand. Seriously one of the oddest worst pains! Feels like poison throbbing in your veins!

My father in law had a scary reaction a few years back, not full on allergic reaction, but bad enough they went to the ER, and a dr gave him great advice. If you get stung, GO SIT DOWN. He kept working and his heightened heart rate spread the toxins. If he gets stung he goes inside in the air and sits calmly for an hour or so and he’s good to go.

Just something to consider if you aren’t allergic but get stung.

They seem to be worse this year around here than ever. We have wasps, bees, yellow jackets, hornets. . . . I've been stung twice this year, and they've divebombed me every time I've watered the trees. (I do the watering without my prosthesis, so I'm sure it's quite the sight with my "running" on one leg on crutches trying to pull 150 feet of hose while fighting off red wasps with both hands--y'all better not EVER say I'm not talented )

C is allergic to them, so he has to be very careful. As y'all know, there are always stinging or biting insects in/around farm equipment--I've seen him sprint a quarter mile down a muddy pond levee waving his hat and screaming at the top of his lungs like a banshee!!

Thank you. I am old and probably need to sit down too. One other suggestion is keep STING RELIEF in your truck or trailer just in case. Certainly helps everyone but especially little kids. Get at cvs, Walgreens or Walmart.

Good advice.  I was stung by a yellowjacket last year on the arm.  Hot, swollen and red for three days.  I've been stung many times but not by one of those nasty little beasts.
