| Hi everyone, I need advise on the best brand/model of barrel saddle. My budget is around $2,000. I also need advise on if it matter if the saddle underside is covered in real wool or synthetic? Also what contour felt pad would you recommended? Any help is appreciated. |

| I really like Martin saddles but they might be a bit above your budget. You could always try to find a used one.
I don't think it really matters what the underside is. I have always had one with a wool underside and have never rode with a synthetic underside, so I can't really speak to that.
As far as a pad goes, I have had great luck with 5Star pads. They come in different thicknesses. It all depends on your horse and saddle when trying to figure out what thickness to go with, in my opinion.
My best advice would be to try the saddle out before you buy. I had the good fortune of buying my saddle from a place that had a riding arena next door. They let me ride in a few saddles with white pads to see how they were sitting on my horse. |

As for pads, I don't spend a ton of money. I like Diamond as well as any of them. |

| I love my shiloh saddle and 5 star pads. I picked up my Shiloh used and my 5 star new and was still within your budget. |

Location: Arizona | Yes get a good name brand saddle and pad, don't comprise because of price. I love my 5 star pads, they last forever. I have a Larry Coats for sale, I also ride in a Pozzi and Cactus, both great saddles! |
