I'm just curious how far people are traveling to come watch the American? I've never been, but this year my sister and I are going to have a vendor booth in the Fan Zone outside. Do people like to come and shop like they do at the NFR? I may never get to go to the NFR as a vendor, so this might be as close as I can get, lol. We're hoping it's a good weekend for us, but we honestly don't know what to expect.

They've never been consistent with how they have offered their Fan Zone. Sometimes its only set up in the stockyards......sometimes they have a tent in the parking lot of AT&T stadium...but then the next year they didn't. I never know what to expect and hope they get something nailed down that doesn't continually change.

With that said, I don't really go to the American expecting to shop, but love going to the area to visit Teskeys, Paul Taylors, NRS, etc.

What do you sell at your booth?

I know it's not a shopping destination like the NFR, but I'm going to at least give it a try.
I do longhorn skulls (plain and painted) and rustic art and home decor. I know clothing boutiques do really well at this kind of stuff, so it could be an expensive lesson for me, lol.
They say the Fan Zone will be in Lot 4 at the Stadium, so I'm hoping there's enough of a draw to bring in enough shoppers to be worth it :)

I live in Weatherford, TX. I've been to the Cutting and the American Semi Finals as well as other big horse events in Fort Worth. We are about 20-25 minutes west from Fort Worth and the Stockyards. I see most people shopping clothes at these events on the grounds. As said, most want to go to Teskey's. We are literally five minutes up I-20 from Teskey's... and I do just love them. They have all you could possibly want (from bits, saddles, really any tack, feed barn...it really goes on and on) AND their customer service is great. Their prices are very comparable to anywhere else too, even on everyday items. I feel very fortunate to live so close.

The others mentioned are great too. They are within an hour or an hour and a half of me. But, Teskey's is just such a one stop shop kind of place, that it gets way more attention.

I think it is very, very hard for vendors in Fort Worth, or anywhere close; in a big show atmosphere, to compete as vendors with all that is offered in the surrounding area.

I agree, Teskey's is amazing! I live about 25 minutes from AT&T Stadium, so that's a big part of why I want to give it a try--I won't have a ton of extra expenses :) I just hope I can at least make my booth space fee back

To me, that is a huge plus that you are so close. You don't have all the extra expenses. It is very definitely worth a try for you and see how it goes.  I would think you would make your booth fee, and then some, back on the deal.

I would love to see your stuff! If I make it down there this year I will definitely plan to stop by.

We’re coming down from Iowa and we’ll probably swing by the shopping area at the stadium - they didn’t have that last year to my knowledge which is the first year we went.

That’ll be the end of our trip though, so our shopping funds may be on the low side. We are staying in the stockyards and also plan to go to Paul Taylor’s, NRS, Teskeys, down to The Patriot one day, which had a pretty good selection of vendors set up last year, and maybe even down to Glen Rose for a day. We’ll be in town Tuesday night-the Saturday evening long round.
