Looking for pros and cons for the prolite Barrel saddle. Are they good quality and hold up well? Anything you can tell me about them is appreciated.

I was not a fan of the Prolite barrel saddles. For one if i'm going to pay $2k+ for a new saddle there should be no marks on it! My saddle had rubbed marks all over and old glue covering it. I tried to look past it and decided to at least test ride in it since i was desperate to have a saddle that would fit my colt. The saddle didn't fit at all and was extremely uncomfortable to ride in. I am the kind of rider that likes to be able to push forward and get out of my seat when i need to. This saddle did not allow that and kept me pushed back. Customer service was not pleasing either. I messaged my dealer how i wasn't too happy with my purchase after she asked for an update. Once i gave my honest review, her nice attitude dropped and she became rude and short with me. I spoke to the creator of the company and asked for a refund and was willing to pay the cost to ship it back to brazil as the first excuse from them was how expensive it was to ship it back. I was only told that they would help me post the saddle for sale. It took 2 months for me to sell it and i took a huge lose of $700 to have it moved because i had absolutely no interest in the saddle and i needed the money badly to purchase a new saddle. I highly suggest looking into Seven saddles.

Of course everyone has their own opinions and likes/dislikes. I have to respectfully disagree with the previous person. I absolutely love my Prolite and have been very pleased with it. I was running my young mare in a 15" cervi martin (a fairly older version since i bought it used over 10 years ago). I got my mare as a 2 year old and just rode her fairly lightly while letting her grow up some. This past January as a 4.5 year old I really started riding and running her hard. This horse who has never bucked a single day in her life started bucking when I asked for a lope in the right lead. Then it got to where she was trying to run out from under me during simply loping a circle when she ususally loped nice collected circles. I was also getting thrown forward in my saddle which made me very uncomfortable. I started reaching out for help becasue saddle fit was the only thing I could think of that could be causing this. I met with my local Prolite rep, who is now a friend of mine, because I have no knowledge of proper saddle fit. She immediately told me my gullet was too wide and I needed a 6.75". She let me ride and run in one of her personal saddles and surely enough that did the trick. I immediately started looking for one and came across a lightly used one. I bought it a few months ago and absolutely love it. I bought a full neoprene (which I didn't originally want but grabbed whatever was available immediately) and now I insist on having neoprene. I like being held to my horse and sat in my saddle. It's not like velcro where I can't move if i want to, but it's enough to trust that I will not get thrown off center. The quality seems perfectly fine to me and I have had no issues so far. I seriously love the saddle and brand so much that I want to buy another one to have 2 even though I only have 1 horse to ride edited to add... money doesn't float around easily in my household so spending what i did on a saddle, even though it was used so slightly cheaper, was extremely scary for me but i am SO happy I did it and I know my mare is too!

Thanks. I mostly had people tell me to stay away from them.

I like mine.  I have ridden in Martins for years.  My most recent was a BTR, which I loved, but I have an injury that necessitated me getting something as light as possible.  There was not as much weight difference as what I had anticipated.  The Prolite is 7 pounds lighter than the BTR, but I will take it.  I got an all leather Prolite. Keep in mind the Prolite is half what a Martin costs so the quality is not going to be quite the same.  To get the leather butter soft, I had to soak it in neatsfoot oil 3x when it arrived.  I also replaced the nylon off billet and girth strap with leather.  It fits my horse really well.  There was no break in time to get it to sit down on her back.  It does sit the rider different than my BTR.  The seat is a lot deeper and there was an adjustment period for me to get used to it.  The cantle really cradles your azz.  My mare has the typical ASOF watchy thing going on and being half cutting bred, she can duck out from under you in a millisecond.  No worries with this saddle.  When my mare gets too chargy, I do rollbacks on a fence.  Again, she is lightning fast with the drop and roll at speed and I stay secure at all times.

Had 3, hybrid and neoprenes, all 3 had thee exact same flaws and all had issues after 10-15 rides. Super comfy, fit my horse great, but for $1700-$2300, I expect even somewhat decent customer service and for the saddle to last. I'm not the only one with a bad experience, our whole northern region has had issues with them and unfortunately they've kinda become a laughing stock here now because of it. Customer service issues, saddles showing up wrong, saddles not being the right size or gullet width, saddles showing up with scratches/stains, wait times being 18+ weeks when they were told 6-8 weeks, etc. Rookie mistakes you'd expect with a corriente order.  And you don't dare post your bad review. Lol Most companies use bad reviews to better themselves, they just blame the consumer. I pray they aim higher to be better.

Long story short - go with masters or seven.

Definitely stay away. Mine as made entirely wrong waited 16weeks when I was told 8 only to see that it was not even remotely close to being made correctly. Customer service sucks. I had to get nasty when it came to my refund.. as they were Trying to not refund me all my money.
