Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Β What are some possible signs? Helping a friend with a mare. She thought the mare was cinchy but she's fine with the girth. Until it gets snugger, then she almost goes into panic mode and starts stumbling all over. I worked with the mare a good bit today just saddling and unsaddling. Her actions aren't quite what I have seen before but she got better the more we messed with her. She has a very sore spot and knot near her spine located way back behind her hip that we are going to get looked at. About a year ago this mare flipped over after pulling back at the trailer (current owner was not present for it) and she has some obvious scarring on her withers from a saddle sore |

| Hey there ladies!! How are the tortoises rosalee?
As far as kissing spine, don't do anything else until you get X-rays of the spine. I spent thousands and thousands on treating symptoms, it was a measily handful of X-rays to diagnose what was the problem. Dr Honnas did surgery on my boy, I'm looking forward to getting him back on the pattern.
Barrelbasher's gelding had the surgery too and came back to run in the 1D against tough company this summer |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Β Thanks. This was just the first thing I thought of after I met with her today and saw the mare myself. I've dealt with a lot of cinchy and cold backed horses but this one was just way different |

| I have a horse with kissing spine. It was confirmed with X rays. I never had any signs. After a year or so of seasoning him,he developed alley issues. Blew me away cuz he i didnt haul him hard or work him at home. He strted not wanti.g to load in my trailer too. After a process of elimination, kissing spine was the cause. He developed ulcers as a result of stress. But over all he never acted any bad as far as just ridding him. Good luck to you..:) |

All of the horses I have know that have had KS have been different. Mine would not work the right barrel. He had surgery last year and came back tough as nails. As CPC said just save time and expense and just get a few X-rays of the back. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | She's not a barrel horse. I think they just trail ride her. Fellow military family. The horse was left with a relative during a PCS, and that's when she flipped over. Ever since then she has been like this. The gal that owns her definitely wants to get her what she needs. |

| How about ulcers, when loading in a trailer it would pull on the stomach. Been there before...We supposedly have one with kissing spine but I also tend to believe she has ulcers worse than ks. We are currently treating her for ulcers after 6 vets not a mention, a phone call I made to a vet said have you ever checked for ulcers? If anyone would have asked how is her temperament it would have been obvious. Perfect figure 8's in her stall all day long. |
