How much would you pay for 2 recip mares in foal to Slick by Design/daughter of first down dash and the other is Slick By Design/daughter of Mr Jess Perry? Also what kind of precautions comes with buying recip mares? Other than getting them preg checked and getting all the right paperwork?

They would be worth quite a bit as you are not really buying the recip mare as much as the foal and both of those foals are bred to the hilt.  There is additional paperwork, but really only after the foal is born (DNA).  I'd want credible paperwork supporting the claim that those embryos were indeed in those mares.  Good luck!  They sound like barn burners to me!

We bought a receipt mare in foal and we insured her to protect our investment.

Most of the time the recip mares go back to the facility that did the embryo transfers. You are buying the baby inside not the mares. Both babies worth quiet a bit. I haven't seen what any are going for but I'm thinking 10,000 each.

I havent seen any foals for sale yet by SBD, but I bet we will see quite a few here this next year beings though he bred over 200 mares last year. At that rate they will be on every street corner.

Thanks guys! I think I'm being offered a really good deal then. I ment to say I was buying the embroys I know those recip mares aren't really worth anything and have to go back. How do you guarantee your really getting those babies tho? I know you get the paperwork and they have to be DNA tested after they are born but what would you do if they don't DNA test correctly? I'm being a pessimistic person i know. I don't really know the people selling the horse but I do trust the person who told me about the deal and they know the people.

I am not enough if a gambler to buy a foal in utero. Most of them are not a live foal guarantee. If you do find one that is, but the recep made loses it, you would have to cover the costs of flushing and doing another ET. I'd make darn sure I had an iron clad contract covering all scenerios. As for the value, it is usually about double the stud fee on a freshman sire. But that isn't certain either.

Assuming you are buying from reputable buyer.r. We also brought our recip mare home with DTF colt at her side...was also born at Royal Vista in OK.. Also was able to see mare that was daughter of Frenchmans Guy. I think the AQHA has something to say about it if DNA not match. I think paperwork from your buyer has to be filled out....and its a Small World.
