So, I have the opportunity to purchase a 3 year old filly from someone I know. She bought it in the fall an put about 15 rides on it since (2 of them were me riding it for them). She's potentially going to put it up for sale, but for $2500 more than what she paid in August. Would you pay that, or would you ask for some negotiation? I would take here and start her completely over because she really needs to go back to the basics again. Opinions?

Depends on the breeding, conformation, and how much I wanted the horse

If she needs restarted, then in my opinion she isn't worth much more than she paid. $2500 over she better be broke broke unless she found a daughter of something great that they didn't know what they had and sold for a couple hundred. A 3 yr old with 15 rides going through a sale wouldn't bring $1000 around here unless it was a daughter of something and could be a broodmare if the riding didn't pan out.

I would consider what she paid for it not to matter.  All that matters is if the horse is worth the price that she's offering it to you.

That is a good point. Without knowing the origional price and honestly that isn't our business, but since you know if you can justify paying what she is asking then go for it.

Just depends on how much you want this horse, Its hard to tell someone that owns the horse that they are asking to much for them, their horse their price, but since you guys are friends maybe she will lower the price for you are just make an offer and see where that takes you.
