| Last night I went to a jackpot.... I'd been running him in my usual barrel saddle, and Sherry Cervi short shank but he hasn't been very interested in turning lately which is unusual for him. So anyways, last night I ran him in hubby's calf roping saddle (which was far less than ideal for me-the rider) and he fired awesome! Now the issue here is that he was peeing as he ran (he's never done this before)...We got done our run and he was soaked in pee all up in his hind legs. I checked for a bean- nothing. He usually swishes his tail lots, and he still was last night. His hocks and SI are injected, but I'm thinking this must be something different.
If it's not one thing, it's something else!! |

Location: Florida | Definately time for a vet. He may be neorologic, maybe EPM or a pinched nerve in his spine. |

| Vet for sure! I would say possibly Kidneys or something. I know another gelding that does this, tail swishing too and they took him to the vet and they couldn't find anything! |

| my gelding did this and he was compleatly fine... the vet said it was most likely just something to do with muscle control when he got excited while running |

| Thanks! I have a call in to the vet and just waiting to hear back. I also bought a bag of Silver Lining Herbs Kidney that I'll start him on time the vet says it's ok. There has been lots of crop spraying going on around our place over the past few weeks so I wonder if the toxins are maybe over working his kidneys or something. |

| The things I would do
Vet and do a CBC, and a in and out urine culture
Ask the vet about Lyme disease as ticks are becoming more prevalent in Alberta and becoming a problem for humans and dogs, no idea on horses
Ask the vet about an adverse reaction to ace as geldings can loose sphincter control in the urethra
Lastly and the very scary thing EIA since one barn near pincher creek had 7 confirmed case

Vet at Moore & Co said there's a good chance he just needed to pee when I ran him and peed a bit when he was really trying (people only noticed it as he was running home).
Nothing to also with Ace as he's never had it.
Have yet to see any ticks on our dogs or horses in the 6 years I've been here, and I watch closely as a friend was recently diagnosed with Lyme.
Started a kidney cleanse this afternoon after the vet said it "really wouldn't hurt considering our place is surrounded by crops that have recently been sprayed". Will also be keeping a close watch and try to collect some urine so I can get a better look and take it in if it looks unusual.
