I've never done it so I don't have a specific answer but I would get on some rv boards or rv renovation sites and ask. I follow a group on Facebook called Tin Can Tourists and they are a wealth of info. They rehab campers from the 50's and 60's and know just about everything you could know. I've seen them talk about sealants and how some hate silicone and how some will dry and shrink and crack, etc.

I used some kind of thick tape on my '98 model Hart, I had to order a steel roller to roll over the tape to get it to seal and push all the air bubbles out.  I will see if I can find the name of the stuff, it really worked pretty good and didn't take long to put on.  I will say one bad thing about it, there is no way to get all the air bubbles out so it is best to put it on when it is hot.  I put mine on at the lower end of the proper application temperature range and when it got hot, the air in the bubbles expanded and I didn't get quite as good of a result as I would have if I would have done it in the warmer months.

There's a product called Dicon that is flexible and doesn't degrade or peel off like silicone.  Kind of expensive.

any butyl sealer would work. Smooth with an ice cube, and not your fingers.

Make your life easy

Dicor 501

It's self leveling so all you need to do is buy the product and a caulking gun and go to town.

I sell semi trailers so I use what we use on them. Manus products. Find a semi trailer parts dealer near you and buy it. Way cheaper. I am saying this assuming you have an alum. roof as well. Fiberglass will change it up a bit.

I was looking into that white RV roof coating for mine.  Still haven't done anything yet though.
