Location: Alabama | Well as winter is starting to approach, I have already started planning and squaring something's away. I decided I needed to get my winter blankets out and let them sun & air out before blanket season was here.... I then realized how dirty and nasty they were!!
I was planning on taking them to the laundry mat for the industrial washer, then saw something about if I washed them and they were fully saturated they would stop being water proof?? Has anyone heard that or had experience with it? These blankets were bought brand new this past fall. |

Location: Kansas | I take mine to the laundry mat and wash the heck out of them.....then I take them home, get me a big ol' can of waterproofing spray and go to town. |

Location: Wherever They Send Me | I usually wash mine at the laundry mat, warm water with horse blanket wash (it says it protects the "waterproofness"). That being said, I do have some blankets that are several years old that I have washed then sprayed with waterproof spray. I think if yours is only a year old, you should be fine. I also let them dry in the sun. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | I wash mine at the only laundrymat in town that doesn't have signs posted saying "No Horse Gear" in the lobby and on practically every washer. LOL
I wash my blankets and then run a cycle with just soap and water through the machine to clean the washer as a courtesy to the people who have to wash their clothes in the washer after me.
I let mine dry on the laundry line and then spray them with waterproof spray.  |

Location: Stephenville, TX | Wash mine at the laundry that allows it and set the washer on Cold, with a small amount of OxyClean or blanket wash and hang them up to dry. Finishing with waterproofing spray. I have several blankets that are at least 10 years old, but I also have a friend that had a blanket repair business that helped me keep them going this way. Hot water is a no-no according to her. |

| I wash mine in my front load washer. After I wash blankets, I always run a "Basket Wash" cycle and sometimes even an extra rinse cycle. I have washed ours once or twice a year for the past 4 years and they are still in good shape. I haven't tested them to make sure that they are still water proof, but my horses seem to stay warm and dry. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I wash mine at the Landry mat with Tide and a little Oxy-Clean. Some times I dry them in the dryer one at the time, some times I hang them up. Depends on the weather at the time. |
