Debating about trying a treeless as I'm getting frustrated with saddles.  I've tried her in all 4 of them I own and the only one that fits her is the wide tree Tex Tan.  Problem is, even though it fits her it is shifting/rolling when we are really turning hard.  I have tightened her cinch as much as possible and I'm still finding everything just keeps rolling on her.  This last weekend it rolled so hard I lost my stirrup on the first and was lucky to not hit the dirt lol.  She's like riding an actual barrel....

Has anyone had any luck with treeless or other types for a super wide round horse?

A regular bob Marshall barrel saddle will pinch. I did use one with a trail pommel that worked well for that shape back, but it still rolled some.   She needed super flat bars and I have never seen a treed saddle flat enough to have fit. Every treed saddle I tried just perched up on top of her.

I sound like I have the exact build of a mare you have. A treeless will definitely be too narrow. The BEST saddle that actually fits my mare is a lynn McKenzie special wide fit. The bars are more flat and flared than normal 'wide fit' saddles. They are a little on the pricey side, but I can almost gurantee you that you will be happy with the fit!

Thank you both for the replies.  I just don't think I could swing the price on the Lynn McKenzie at the moment but I may end up having to try it down the road.  Maybe I'll beg as a Christmas gift lol!

Has anyone tried a Tammy or Jackie wide treeless on a round horse?  Those are a little more in my price range especially if I could find used.

I tried a Tammy Fischer(wide fit) on a mare that is very round - no such luck. Same issue with rolling.

The best I've used on her is a Crown C - not perfect, but better than anything else I've tried.

What kind of cinch are you using on the saddle that you like on her? And what kind of pad? I prefer a saddleright pad with a felt liner and a felt cinch on my round horses. Won't cure everything but a pad and cinch change might get you by with the saddle you have.

Pad is CE Biofit as she's still built down hill but it is a wool blend.  Cinch is Air Flex by Weaver.  I have some other cinches and pads I could try...that might be a really good idea...I'll have to try some.

if she is round I would think the biofit would make that worse. Try a thinner felt pad & shim it if you need for the downhill issue. I also find that anything fleece slides more on my round horses than felt does. I would think the airflex would be a pretty good cinch but I don't use neoprene so I've never actually tried one.

I will give it a try as I know I have an older felt pad to experiment with.  Thx for the suggestions!
