Location: IL | Ok, my Mom is headed to her first WNFR this year and we are having trouble finding where to stay. She and a friend are going and would like to know the best place to stay. I have searched the forum for answers, but haven't found anything substantial yet. They would like to go to an after show (preferably NFR Tonight with Donny Gay, Joe Beaver and Miller, at The Orleans). Or are open to suggestions... There is just a lot to research! Help us lol |

Any of the main hotels on the strip will be beaming and over flowing with NFR people and fun. Then South Point is always fun to and thats where the buckle ceremony is each night from the nights perf. I guess it depends how much of a party atmosphere she is into? Probably the youngest and most party atmosphere is at South Point and she should go there at least one night for the buckle presentation but do it on a night not going to the actual rodeo as the bar that they do the buckles in fills up over flowing fast and hours prior as you can watch the rodeo in there also. MGM is always great and that is by far the best place to watch the rodeo from. It's in the theatre so it's bigger then life and they have their own MC and alot of fun there. |

I stayed there a few years ago and never again! Even if they gave me free rooms I would go else where.

| What kind of experience is she looking for? Reasonable no frills? Medium of the road with a few frills? Or its vegas want spa nightlife experience?
And to other person who mentioned not to stay at circus circus I agree, CHEAP but not in a great part of town safety wise and not in the center of everything either. |

Location: The edge of no where | I'd definitely tell her to make the trip to South Point for the buckle ceremony at least once....just be really early for a good seat. After going to the rodeo, it's my fav thing. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | I definitely think it depends on what kind of experience and amenities she is looking for as to the hotel choice. Bear in mind that there is a LOT to do so room time is most likely minimal. Also there are a lot of shuttles/cabs etc that make hopping over to another venue for activities really easy. You might want to get on the various web sites and look at the deals that are available. Some great deals are inclusive of air fare and room. If you monitor them weekly you can pick up some great bargains. |

Location: IL | Thank you for all the suggestions! It sounds like her friend booked a room at Silver Sevens, I hope it's decent! I'm hoping they won't have too much trouble navigating to and from places. Is the monorail hard to use?
The only other problem is, her friend is saying they should wait until the get there to buy tickets to the perfomances. I'm not sure how safe/reliable this is though? I think they're only interested in attending one performace while they are there, otherwise they will watch from one of the venues showcasing the NFR. They're not really a "party" crowd, both in their 60's, so where is the most approriate place for them to watch? I'm going to suggest South Point for one night for sure.

P.S. Heather, that's so exciting! I wish I was going, but I am going to stay home and take care of the ponies for once. Hopefully, if I'm home, she won't worry as much (she's such a worry wart!) She will be calling or PM'ing you on Facebook for sure! I hope you guys can meet up, with all the hustle and bustle it might be challenging. |
