Holy smokes! The difference a week can make..... 'Scars On My Heart' aka Hati, is just over 2 months old. She's by Stoli My Heart, out of DCR Scarlet Rose.
I'm confident she will grey eventually, but this color she's turning now has me puzzled. The mare's 'base color' was a blue roan before she greyed out, and I believe SMH displays roan characteristics as well? Not that it matters much. She could turn purple and I would still love her!
ETA: the first two pictures were from about a week ago, the last two pictures were two days ago. She's shedding quickly!

Thank you! I thought it was a-typical for her to grey out so young, but as long as she doesn't go bald, I'm happy!!

She can have the grey gene and the roan gene like your mare. Since greys get lighter with age, your foal will be constantly changing color until it eventually looks white. Greying out on average takes 7-8 years but can take longer or be faster on each individual horse.

My Chasin Firewater colt was smokey black based grey and he did all sorts of color change. I'll try and find a few pics. I sold him as a yearling a couple months ago so I don't have any current pics.

Thank you! This seems to be the popular vote. Which is JUST what I asked for every time I rubbed mama's belly during her pregnancy lol
