Location: SW MO | If you had a mare that was gaping her mouth a little and was resistant to the bit, what curb would you use? I switched to a locked gag sherry cervi 3 piece with a chain curb and was considering a leather curb instead. I needed less gag in the run than the normal cervi short shank because I needed a quicker reaction. Now she is gaping her mouth some. opinions? |

I started tying mine up to the throat latch, I learned this trick from some Dave Elliott followers that convereted me last year. It has worked wonders for all my horses! He also has some different curbs that are fantastic, I have a beaded one, and a solid bar that I love! |

Location: SW MO | thats the thing.. She really doesn't have a great stop once you get going faster. Shes great and will stop off of my seat if we are slow loping or jogging around, but once shes running I need more bridle. |

Location: SW MO | I loosened the curb and it really did not make a difference. She will do this with just about any bit, but on all of mine I have the chain curb. that is why I am looking at curbs. |

I would try a leather crub and see if that will make a different. Have you ever tryed a chain mouth? |
