I am curious if anybody has done this and how hard it was to do? What type of dye did you use?

I would like to take advantage of some of the Cyber Monday deals, but I am having a hard time finding a color I like in the size I need. Instead, I am thinking about dying a white pair the color I want. I know people airbrush the Iconoclast boots and they turn out really nice.

I have dyed Iconoclasts and RES with RIT liquid Dye.   Super easy! Just follow the directions on the bottle

I have also done this. I have found that the SMB's actually grab the color better than the Iconoclasts. I have had some turn out really pretty and some that I will just use to practice at home. Ü

Mine turned out the best when I ran them through the washing machine with the dye. Just make sure to run a hot cycle with bleach as soon as you are done. I also never used the full bottle of dye and I spot checked during the cycle to make sure I got the color that I was going for. I have also hand dipped them in hot water with dye so I could do different colors for an ombre look.

It really is fun, but be prepared in case the color doesn't work out as planned.

I am worried about the color not turning out how I hope!

I got the boots 25% off during a Cyber Monday sale, but they were still $50. Really hoping I don't screw them up!

Be sure to do a final rinse in vinegar water to "set" the color so they don't bleed.

I had an old pair of white boots that I tested dying on first. I followed the instructions on the bottle and the boots came out way too dark. Luckily they were old and I wasn't out any money. I bought some new ones shortly after and dyed them again but this time used way less dye and they came out perfect. I have dyed several since then and all but 1 came out just as planned. But like I mentioned before, those were iconoclasts and they don't seem to grab the color as well as the SMB's. I think you should be fine. Good luck!

Maybe I will start out using less than recommended to avoid that.

The boots are back ordered, so I am going to have to wait a couple of weeks to try this.

Have we tried this with bell boots as well? I have a pair of turquoise CE bell boots that are faded and I'd like to revive the color a bit.
