Who of you out there do English and Western? I used to do both but I sold my good English saddle a few years ago, and now I have a very old old that's good but needs some webbers. I think it's beneficial to do both but I rarely use it now to concentrate everything I do for western/barrel training. Any of y'all do dressage, jumping, cross country, or anything?

I’m on the hunt seat equestrian team at college if that counts. I think it’s great to do multiple things

I am mainly barrel racing now. But I grew up showing western pleasure, horsemanship, hunt seat, English equitation. We had a few reining horses, working cow horses thrown in. It was pretty common for me to show a different horse every year. At the time, it frustrated me, but looking back it has made me a really good rider. I think the more you can do and experience the better.

I'd love to show my guy and the colt in both, but I don't have the extra money to buy the clothes, tack, and take the time to do their hair for the day of the show.

This year my intentions are to enter some fun, local shows to get my guy in the arena doing pleasure, western riding, and maybe trail. This way he's not running every time and help with my riding skills. The colt just needs taken out and about and if I have someone to record, it'll be a good show

I do all around at the shows. But if I am serious about winning, barrel racing and hunter/jumper. Not the same horse.

I bet I'd fall off in either a h/j or dressage saddle now.  But I really, really enjoyed my college years where I tested out of western and learned the different disciplines!

I've always done both, but I don't pay that much attention to the tack, but bettering my riding in general. For example, I do dressage at home in western tack, bareback, etc. it doesn't matter. I would like to enter my horse in some flat classes if I could find an english saddle to fit my horse.

I ride and show both. Mainly barrels, ranch horse and eventing.  I have a couple that I can show both ways which is fun.  My retired barrel stud has become a kick butt eventer.

The older horse i have (whos my moms now) is a kick butt jumper. We showed english many times and just had fun with it. The other gelding thinks picking his feet up high is a waste of time and would rather kick butt at pleasure, or extreme trail. Mainly though we run barrels. The biggest thing was cost of different shows and sometimes you have to prioritize what you love the most. Barrels has always held my heart. But i still have all my english stuff and if we had time/ money I would go to one
