| What’s everyone using for bits to race their horses in? I’ve always used a Bobby Stivers rope nose snaffle, pole bending bit (snaffle long shank with a noseband), or a Jim warner hack because I’ve always had horses that needed that extra nose control. I’d like to switch to a shank bit since that’s what the new horse has been run in but wanted to know what everyone is using and why.
Anyone use a junior cowhorse port bit, reining Futurity bit, or lifter bits?
I really like the quality of the Myler bits but the choices are enormous!
He’s heavy on the bit but is very well trained with all his buttons. Anyone run one like that? |

Location: Jersey Girl | I don't really have one favorite. It just depends on the horse.
My mare uses a Jr Cowhorse chain mouth without a chin strap.

Location: Georgia | I just got some Elliot bits so the verdict isnt out on those yet.
But my favorite bit to make a run in is a Cervi short shank with a 3 piece dogbone. I can slap that on just about anything and make a run.

| Whatever suits them best really.
But the 2 I have now are going really well in a CM 44 style 2 piece and a similar style reinsman 2 piece with a ribbon cut mouthpiece. I don’t tend to ride with both hands at once, so a 2 piece suits my style as well. |

| CG Simplicity--very light, with just a little lift if you need it.
My current horse I'm running is just a little stronger than I am used to, so I have been running him in a Dutton gag with a dogbone (I apologize that I have no idea what it is called). I hope once he is 100% finished, that I'd feel comfortable running him in the Simplicity as well. |

| One I like in a short port chain jr cow horse because I don’t need to do much with her when running except stay out of her way. The other I like in a million dollar bit or pozzi lifter bit. He runs harder and I tend to shut him down too early and then I have to keep him off the barrel. |

| If cowhorse or Ed Wright short shank. Not often but on occasion I use a Don Wasson teardrop combo—that is such a neat bit. |
